This SUNDAY 1st May is the PONY POO lottery at Clifden Show Grounds from 2pm, it would be great to see everyone down there.

Connemara Therapeutic Pony Riding have asked us to let you all know that they are organising a novel fundraiser called the Pony Poo Lottery on 1st May 2016 at the Connemara Pony Breeders Society Show grounds, Clifden at 2pm. So how does the ‘Pony Poo Lottery’ work? Well the Connemara Pony Breeders Society have kindly let the group use the Show grounds in Clifden for the day where the arena will be divided into squares and assigned numbers (which correspond to the ticket numbers). Then on the appointed day and time, Sunday 1st May at 2pm two handsome Connemara Ponies will be released into the arena one of whom will be wearing a pink blanket the other a blue one. Then the spectators, wait…..for nature to make its call … if a pony poos on your square you’re a winner! And there are two 1st prizes of €1,000, one for each colour pony. The day will also have a range of fun for the family including welly throwing competition, face-painting, cake sale, wet sponge completion, sheaf throwing, wet sponge competition and much, much more.

We’d be delighted to see tourists and visitors to the Connemara area at the Show field on 1st May to enjoy the fun.

WHAT IS CONNEMARA THERAPEUTIC PONY RIDING YOU SAY? Connemara Therapeutic Riding is a part time community service operating at Errislannan Manor, providing children and adults with disability with therapeutic riding sessions. Therapeutic Riding uses equine based learning techniques together with knowledge of disability to develop learning and therapeutic interventions for people with a variety of physical, cognitive, emotional and developmental disabilities. It has been described ‘as physiotherapy on horseback’.)

The service has been operating for nearly a year and participants, their families and the committee have seen the huge benefits of Therapeutic Riding over this period. It has benefited both children and adults with a range of conditions including Autism, Epilepsy, Down’s syndrome, acquired brain injury, learning disabilities, sensory impairments and Cerebral Palsy. The committee have seen first-hand that TR has assisted the rider by improving balance and co-ordination, greatly assisted with emotional control, self-confidence and self-esteem. This service is being run on a shoe string budget so the committee decided to run a novel fundraiser – the Pony Poo Lottery.

So please spread the word and help support a very worthwhile project.

Kind regards
