Life cycle of a frog.

Spring has finally arrived and the streams are full of frogspawn. We decided to study the life cycle of the frog from frogspawn to tadpole to froglet to adult frog. We found out some very interesting facts. Did you know the tadpole feeds off the frogspawn for approximately 3 weeks!!

Map of Clifden town.

2nd class pupils became junior cartographers this month when we drew maps of the town identifying the streets and marking in well known buildings. Then we went on an orienteering field trip using our maps. We identified the fire station, the court house and other buildings. We also explored the old Gaol, the old railway station at the Station House Hotel, we saw a replica of Alcock and Browns biplane in the Marconi restaurant and Bank of Ireland gave us a behind the scenes tour of the bank.

Natural Habitats

As we see signs of Spring all around us we see new life appearing and others awakening from hibernation. We explored different habitats and which animals we might find there. We also studied how each habitat is suited to the animal.

Easter

As we are the holy communion class we decided to do some Lenten promises. We are working hard to keep these promises and are nearly at the end. Congratulations to those who made their First Confession last Saturday!!
